Frequently asked questions
Answers about client and server setup, device pairing and AI membership.
What is free?
Core calling and SMS features are free. AI membership is optional: $5 per month or $50 per year. Your carrier plan, mobile data and internet charges still apply.
Why is recording required when AI is enabled?
Recording is required when AI is enabled because our robots participate in the entire conversation process. To comply with regulations and technical needs, we must record calls to ensure effective monitoring and improvement. These recordings are used solely for technical analysis in accordance with our privacy policy and relevant legal requirements.
Which Android devices are supported?
The device directory lists verified model and firmware combinations. A phone that is not listed can still install the server APK and submit self-service diagnostics. AI helps analyze the hardware, then adaptation and testing can expand the supported list.
Does AI record every call?
No. AI participation and call recording depend on the mode you select. Current AI calls enable recording; end AI participation before stopping it. Review recording settings and obtain any required participant consent before recording or translation. Automatic hardware diagnostics are separate from call recordings.
Do I need to root my phone?
SMS mode does not need root or microphone access. Remote calls need a compatible rooted Android server, a matching audio module and the required permissions. Root alone does not make an unsupported device compatible.
How do I request AI adaptation for an unlisted phone?
Open Audio assessment & adaptation in the server app, choose Submit diagnostics for analysis, then review and consent to the upload. No manual log export or compilation is needed. When a reviewed test build is ready, follow its notification, automatic checks and guided call confirmation.
Can I use an iPhone as the home server?
The home server is Android only. Your travel phone can use the iOS client. App Store and Google Play links are not published yet; the Android server APK is available for internal testing.
Why is my paired device still offline?
Pairing links a device to your account; it does not start the connection. Open Android settings in FebPhone, enable Background service, check internet access and allow background activity. Keep the app open briefly after setup.
How do I update safely?
Install the new APK over the existing app. Do not uninstall, clear data or replace an existing audio module to collect diagnostics. If Android reports a signature or package conflict, stop and contact your support channel.
